Why join the Kennedy Krieger Institute Racing Team?

The funds raised from the Kennedy Krieger Institute Baltimore Running Festival team will support their International Center for Spinal Cord Injury, where aggressive, innovative therapies help patients with spinal cord injuries recover. In addition, funds will support the training needs of patients with disabilities who participate in the event, through the purchase of adapted racing, training and therapy equipment. Recreational activities are often overlooked for individuals with disabilities, but Kennedy Krieger recognizes the important benefits of exercise for their patients, including improved health, self-esteem, social connections, and community reintegration.

With this charity team, they aim to increase the number of Kennedy Krieger patients who are able to participate in the races each year, open the door to improved physical fitness for those with disabilities, and fund research towards a cure for paralysis. Get involved here.

About LASCI Motivational Programs

Each free, motivational presentation presented by Edgepark/UroMed spotlights the life story of LASCI founder Bert Burns, a C6-7 quadriplegic who inspires others by sharing his perspective on winning a Gold Medal in the 1992 Paralympics and how he became a successful entrepreneur.

Bert became a C6-7 quadriplegic as a result of an automobile accident in his youth. His desire to make a positive difference in the lives of people with disabilities led him to establish UroMed as well as creating a free motivational program for peer support and rehabilitation groups that today is known as Life After Spinal Cord Injury.

Have any questions?
Bert will be accompanied by Michael Grimm, a manager for Edgepark & UroMed and can be reached by phone or e-mail:  443-310-7454 or mgrimm@uromed.com.
