SB Day Kicks Off Early on July 27th
Calling all Texas families! Check-in begins at 10 am on July 27th for SB Day at Morgan’s Wonderland.  Don’t worry about needing tickets to enter this super-accessible amusement park, as UroMed has sponsored the cost of admission for every child with Spina Bifida, along with providing tickets for up to three companions for each child.  Additional admissions are available at a discounted rate of $8.00.

During SB Day, you’ll enjoy the park rides and features, free face painting, drawings, games and activities for all.  Entertainment will be provided by 2004 Christian Country Entertainer of the Year, Clifton Jansky!

About Spina Bifida Texas
Spina Bifida Texas is the only organization solely committed to serving individuals affected by Spina Bifida in Central and South Texas, primarily in Bexar County. Their mission is to improve the lives of those affected by Spina Bifida, helping every person affected with spina bifida reach his or her maximum potential,  and to promote Spina Bifida prevention through Folic Acid Awareness programs. Below is a list of the services they provide.

NEW PARENT SUPPORT: Parent volunteers visit and provide new parents with important information on medical issues as well as providing the families with encouragement.

ON THE RIGHT TRACT: This independence program educates children age 5-15 and their parents on various aspects of their self-care which includes self catheterization techniques.

QUALITY OF LIFE SPONSORSHIPS: The association is providing assistance for extra curricular activities such as summer camp, dance classes, sports programs and musical instrument rentals.

MEMBER ACTIVITIES: They provide opportunities for families, teens and adults to interact in a positive social setting that fosters communication and mutual support. Programs include: Support groups, TAG activities (Teen Adult Group), Family Potluck Dinners and Holiday Parties

SCHOLARSHIPS: The association awards scholarship funds to individuals with spina bifida that wish to continue their education post high school. The funds may be used for any accredited college, university or trade school.

FOLIC ACID AWARENESS: Through partnerships with March of Dimes and San Antonio Metropolitan Health District, SB Texas is committed to educating women about the importance of taking 400mcg of folic acid every day to help decrease the incidence of Spina Bifida and preterm births by up to 70%.

RESOURCE LIBRARY: The association has a wide variety of information on hand about medical, educational and social issues related to spina bifida.

FASHIONABLE: In this one of a kind opportunity, Fashion Students create and modify clothing to accommodate the special needs of children with physical disabilities that are then showcased in an annual fashion show.
