UroMed Sponsors Florida Association of Rehabilitation Nurses’ 2012 Education Conference

The Florida State Association of Rehabilitation Nurses Annual Education Conference took place May 2-4 at the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Resort in Orlando, FL, and UroMed was on hand as a proud sponsor and participant.

This year’s conference focused on Resilience in Rehab: Refining Skills For Success, and attendees were eligible to receive 14 nursing contact hours.  The primary goals for the annual FSARN conference are to:

  • increase attendee’s awareness of new trends in rehabilitation healthcare, and
  • support the continued growth of rehabilitation nursing and individual nurses.

This year,  educational topics at the FSARN conference covered a variety of subjects, including:

  • Spasticity Management: Breaking the Barrier
  • Hypothermia in SCI
  • Behavioral Issues Following Brain Injury
  • Computers, Robots and Bioness for Stroke Patients

UroMed sponsors events like the FSARN education conference as a means of improving the level of care available to the community we serve.   We focus our community sponsorship efforts on three primary areas:

  • Condition-related associations that focus on education, awareness and support
  • Sports programs for the disabled
  • Leadership and motivational programs for disabled youth

Most of UroMed’s customers experience urological or incontinence issues, and have conditions like Spinal Cord Injury, Spina Bifida, Transverse Myelitis or Multiple Sclerosis.

Additionally, many of our employees volunteer their time and efforts at various community events. Many of our employees have a personal connection to the following non-profit organizations, as 20% of our customer care associates either has a disability or has a family member with a disabling condition.

UroMed representative Nicole White participated in the FSARN conference to help answer questions on UroMed’s services and available resources for both clinician and patient education.
