Pauline Victoria Aughe’s Small Victories Are A Big Part of Real Life

This week, we are teaming up with Invacare, a leading manufacturer of home and long-term care products, to spotlight the winners of their Real Life campaign. The campaign, launched in April of 2011, brings to light achievements of those with disabilities. A contest was held to spotlight those who have triumphed over their disability. Four winners were selected — each received $9000 for them and their charity of choice. Today, we feature the remarkable story of Pauline Victoria Aughe.

Pauline Victoria Aughe with her son.

Pauline Victoria Aughe lives in paradise. Hawaii to be exact. There with her husband and son, she works as an author, personal trainer, inspirational speaker and blogger. She does all these things without arms or legs.

Born without limbs, Pauline faced a tough life ahead. But at an early age she decided that no goal was out of reach, and there was no reason why she couldn’t be totally happy. After graduating from Santa Clara University, Pauline started working in the corporate world. She met her husband, Ted, a few years later and they married in 2002. In 2006, they were blessed with the birth of their son.

Pauline is an eternal optimist. She shares stories of optimism on her website and features videos of how she has triumphed over the things that are challenges for someone without arms or legs. She has learned how to feed herself, use the computer and even drive! She doesn’t believe in the word “can’t.” Her website, Small Victories, is a place for those who feel down or are in need of inspiration to come and read and share stories of success. She currently serves as a motivational speaker and a source for inspiration for those with disabilities, and recently Pauline collaborated with author Les Brown to feature her story in his book, Fight For Your Dreams
